As I am near the end of my Fundamentals of Digital Marketing course,  I reflect on the lessons learned and how they will be valuable to shaping a quality digital marketing strategy going forward. I have obtained comprehensive insight into the foundation of a strategic digital marketing plan. I have developed an excellent foundational understanding of key internal and external factors. Some of those factors include learning about the S.W.O.T. and PESTEL analyses in order to assess the industry and how I could integrate those insights in to my marketing plan.

For the next year, I chose Milk Bar as my company of interest. Milk Bar is a fun and quirky bakery that sells innovative and nostalgic dessert flavors. I assessed key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the baking industry through the SWOT analysis. There were factors I had not considered, such as eco-friendly packaging and shipping. Taking a deeper dive has given me a new perspective and to consider how much the bakery industry changes; and how much work it would take to set yourself apart from the competition.

Examining Milk Bar’s competition provided much insight. Comparing websites, social media, and SEO revealed areas of improvement for Milk Bar, and I was able to use the gaps in the competition to leverage upon. With the knowledge gained from this course, I am confident in my ability to tackle more advanced classes. I am particularly eager to delve into the intricacies of SEO data analysis, a topic I consider crucial due to its direct insight into online consumer behavior.

As I near the end of this month’s course, I am filled with anticipation. The course has  empowered me to become a data-driven, competitive, and customer-focused digital marketer. I am eager to apply these newfound skills and knowledge to my chosen company, Milk Bar.
